Bioinformatician I Position at Duke University
The Genomic Analysis Facility within the Center for Human Genome Variation at Duke University is currently recruiting for a Bioinformatician I to
manage and analyze all the next generation sequencing data produced by the Facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and updating the Illumina data analysis pipeline and analyzing all sequencing
data. In addition, the position will collaborate and consult with researchers to analyze problems, recommend technology based solutions, and design
computational strategies for a wide range of biological research. The Bioinformatician will also provide training on bioinformatics-related concepts,
applications and tools and will collaborate with the Center’s IT and Bioinformatician staff to ensure the transfer of data in the analysis process.
Qualified candidates must have a B.S. in the Biological Sciences with demonstrable computational skills; or a B.S. in Computer Science with a strong
interest in Biology/Genomics. Experience working in a linux environment, running a cluster using SGE and BASH shell scripting is strongly preferred.
Any experience with C++/JAVA is a plus.
