Principal Research Scientist
  • This position will function as a senior team member within the Virology Therapy Area. Will work closely with the medicinal chemistry and structural biology groups in establishing a compound and enzyme analysis lab, focusing on the analysis of enzyme-substrate interactions. General responsibilities include performing and overseeing the execution of scientific studies that lead to the discovery of NCEs and the identification and characterization of biological targets. Will translate goals into action by adapting the full range of concepts and approaches within biochemistry and enzymology, supervising and directing staff in accomplishing goals and objectives. Will participate on project teams, demonstrating scientific leadership, providing internal expertise, and acting as a resource to others. May represent company at business and scientific meetings and may also have budget responsibility for a project team or section within a department.
    REQUIREMENTS:
    Ph.D. or equivalent in Biochemistry or Enzymology and 0-5 years of postdoctoral experience. Significant experience in enzymatic assay design and development, analysis of enzyme substrate interactions, and protein-substrate-compound interactions. Experience with automation and electronic data management is a plus. Should possess solid leadership skills, demonstrated success in problem solving and ability to coordinate project-related activities as well as the management of a group of scientists. Ability to clearly and effectively present information to a broad audience and proven ability to write research reports and publications preferred.
